Handling precautions:
HARTDUR 115(NDI) is pure naphthylene -1,5- diisocyanate (NDI) and is supplied in the form of fine white, or occasionally yellowish white to grayish white, crystalline flakes or powder. Its vapor pressure at room temperature is well below 10-4 mbar. Permissible in the air at places highest work in the Federal Republic of Germany is 0.02ppm = 0.18mg/m3. This value may not be exceeded, even for short periods. Being exceptionally reactive, NDI must be looked upon as a dangerous material and it must therefore be handled with appropriate care. The potential risks of HARTDUR 115(NDI) depend mainly on the extent to which isocyanate dust, vapors, or aerosols are formed in the processing of this product. The circumstances and operations in which workers may be exposed to HARTDUR 115(NDI) in any of these forms are as follows: dust may rise from the solid material while it is being weighed or introduced into reaction vessels; vapors and aerosols are formed in the cross linking of hot prepolymer batches containing an excess of NDI and in the production of castings (the aerosols owe their formation to the cooling and condensation of hot isocyanate vapors).
Bulk density |
about 0.40g?cm-3 |
Storage |
Caution-HARTDUR 115(NDI) is sensitive to moisture. Water reacts with all isocyanate to form insoluble urea derivatives. HARTDUR 115(NDI) should be stored in tightly sealed containers in cool and dry conditions. The lid of a container which has been opened must be replaced firmly as soon as possible. Under suitable extemal conditions the product can be kept for six months at least with effect from the date on which it leaves the factory. |
Package |
